AIGA National Portfolio Day Poster
Overview
Letterpress poster I designed and printed to promote the annual AIGA National Portfolio Day. This annual event features insights about building portfolios as well as portfolio reviews with established designers. To young and aspiring designers looking for an internship or their first job after university, this event is a great opportunity to help them showcase their skills and integrate into the larger design community. The portfolio for designer is an important component, much like the engine of a car - both are necessary and need maintenance. As such, I decided to use an illustrated diagram of a car engine to represent the portfolio in this poster. I then handset a variety of wood and metal type to highlight the event details. Using a Vandercook SP15 Proofing Press, I printed close to 300 posters, making almost 600 passes through the press. The posters were distributed to designers, agencies, and university design programs to announce the event and some extras were used to decorate the event space.
